Timeline of Key Actions by Sport Organisations on Homophobia and Transphobia in sport

Rugby Stadium

This timeline was created for politicians, journalists, researchers, LGBTQ leaders, and sport leaders to illustrate the lack of meaningful action on homophobia and transphobia in sport.

Most "action" has been public pledges to take action, while most responses have been reactions by sport bodies to legal or political threats.

It is important for everyone to understand where we have been so that

we can collectively start moving forward.

NOTE: this website is temporary to share the timelines, which will be part of our new site launched on 3 Dec. In the meantime, you can visit the

original study website here.

50 years of Evidence.  20 years of Pledges.  Time for Action.
